What is exercise physiology?
An Accredited Exercise Physiologist is a university qualified allied health professional that specialises in the treatment and management of acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries, and disabilities. They can also support the improvement of overall health and wellbeing and the prevention of illness or injury.
Accredited Exercise physiologists (AEPs) are highly skilled in the use of exercise, movement, mobility, education, and lifestyle & behaviour modification as a primary mode of therapy.
Some of the reasons people come to an AEP is because they have been diagnosed with;
- Cardio-metabolic health concerns such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, heart failure or other cardiac conditions.
- Musculoskeletal injury, including; bone, muscle, tendon or ligament injury, bone and joint health, arthritis, osteoporosis, chronic lower back pain, neck pain, post surgical rehabilitation etc.
- Other, eg: Age related decline, improve health and wellbeing, health prevention, other complex or chronic conditions.
